What is MSMS?
The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science (MSMS) is the state of Mississippi's only public, residential high school specifically designed to meet the needs of the Magnolia State's most academically gifted and talented students. Since the first commencement in 1990, more than 3,000 graduates have been prepared for success in college, ultimately taking positions of leadership and service in a variety of careers throughout Mississippi, the nation, and the world. MSMS is a member of the National Consortium for Secondary STEM Schools (NCSSS), and at our founding we were the fourth such school to exist in the country.
Students apply during their sophomore year of high school for the opportunity to attend MSMS. For more information about the application process, visit the How To Apply page. MSMS is a public high school, so there is no tuition to attend and only a nominal room and board fee to cover meals and housing cost. This fee is waived if a student qualifies for free or reduced lunch.
Consistently ranked as one of the best high schools in America, MSMS graduates are offered millions of dollars in scholarships each year. The Class of 2017 alone was offered more than $28 million.
