The facilities of MSMS dot the campus of the Mississippi University for Women. The school has two academic buildings, two residence halls, and a performing arts and music facility. The school also shares with MUW a cafeteria, a library, and a recreation center. You can find more details about the school's facilities on this page.

Hooper Academic Building

Hooper Academic Building

Hooper Academic Building

If MSMS were a body, Hooper would be its head. Hooper is our "main" academic building, meaning the majority of classes are held here. All the math, science, English and foreign language classes we offer can be found within. In the downstairs part of the building is Hooper Lobby - a common congregation area for MSMS students - one of our larger and busier computer labs, the Office of Academic Affairs, our math classrooms, English classrooms and foreign language classrooms. Take a short walk (or elevator ride) upstairs and you will find our state-of-the-art science facilities. Since every one of our science classes is lab based, you will spend lots and lots of time working in these labs.

Shackleford Academic Building

A short walk down the street from Hooper will take you to Shackleford or "Shack." This is where our history, social science, computer science and visual arts classes meet. Many of the MSMS dances which are held on the weekends also take place upstairs in Shackleford Auditorium.

The PAC was originally MUW's laundry facility until it was renovated and re-purposed a few years ago.

The PAC

Across the way from Shackleford you will find the PAC (Performing Arts Center), which is where performing arts classes are held. Everything from band to guitar performance to drama to songwriting all take place in this spacious building.

The Mary Wilson Home

Originally used as a teaching house for MUW's Home Economics students, the Mary Wilson Home houses the office of the Executive Director of MSMS. You can also find our IT professionals hard at work in the upstairs area of this building.

Hogarth Student Center

The Hogarth Student Center is located directly across the street from Hooper. In Hogarth, MSMS students can find their mailboxes, an ATM Machine, a Subway Restaurant and the MUW bookstore - the Bookend. Downstairs Hogarth also houses the Office of Student Affairs where Ms. Walker and Ms. Foote work. Upstairs in the building is located the Office of School Advancement (Admissions).

Hogarth Dining Center

Around the corner from the Student Center, and technically in the same building, is the Hogarth Dining Center. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on weekdays and brunch and dinner are served on weekends. Students have a wide variety of options to choose from which change from day to day. Here's a hint: Tuesday is fried chicken day. It's pretty awesome.

Stark Recreation Center

For many of our students, Stark is one of their favorite things about being an MSMS student. Boasting a gigantic indoor swimming pool, several basketball courts, racquetball courts, pool tables, ping pong tables, state of the art weight training and cardio equipment, free weights and much, much more, at Stark, you really can become an iron man...or woman. Click here for more information about all the features Stark has to offer.

Goen and Frazer Residence Halls

If you are a young lady and you decide to attend MSMS, Goen will by your home during your time at the school. If you are a young man, then Frazer is where you will hang your hat. Each dorm is a five-floor structure complete with computer labs, commons areas with moderate kitchen facilities, and laundry facilities. For more information about Goen and Frazer head over to the "Residential Life" page.

Fant Memorial Library

Fant Memorial Library is the official university library used by MUW. MUW has kindly made it available to our students to use as well. This is a great place to catch up on some quiet study time during the day or just discover a great new book. Fant is currently undergoing major renovation to its facade, but despite the construction, the library is available for use.
