During World War II, an estimated 4,187 men from the state of Mississippi gave their lives. Many of their stories are unknown.
Students of the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science University United States History course were tasked with uncovering some of these stories. During the 2016-2017 school year, each of these students was given the name of a soldier, airman, or sailor from the student's home county who was killed during the war and subsequently buried overseas.
Using primary document research, these students created the websites listed below to honor and rekindle the memories of these heroes.
Across the divide of time, these students have taken responsibility for the stories of these brave men and though the task was difficult, each the cherished connection forged with their fallen hero.
